Map Analysis
This choropleth map represents the percent of people that are Hispanic or Latino in the United States. The highest percentile of Hispanic or Latino people is mainly located in the Southwest Region, left side of the West South Central Division, bottom of Mountain Division and bottom of the Pacific Division. New Mexico and the bottom of Florida is completely in the range of 12.3% to 99.7%. The lower percentile of Hispanic or Latino people are mainly located in The Appalachian Region, the top of the West North Central, top of the Mountain and top of the New England. The state of Maine is completely in the 0.0% range.
The Southwest has a higher percent of Hispanic or Latino then the East because the Southwest is right on the border of Central America. All the immigrants coming from Central America end up crossing that border and finding a home near by. If they just traveled a long way to get to America why would they want to travel more to get to Maine or the top of the Great Lake states. Florida is the closest state to the islands in the Caribbean so all the immigrants coming from the Caribbean Islands will end up in Florida.
This impacts the U.S. socially, because all the Hispanic people coming in from their spanish speaking background will build up over time and more people will start to speak spanish to communicate with each other. All the immigrants coming in will boost the population in the southwest region so those states will start to get more electoral votes. The culture will change according to the amount of Hispanic or Latino in an area. They will bring all their traditions to the area. All the immigrants might not understand or know what is happening with our government so they may not vote for the first few years. Many impacts are happening just according to the percentage of Hispanic or Latino in a Region.
